Project Details

The City of Brawley is requesting bids for a project located in the Brawley Municipal Airport. The scope of work for this project includes:
-replacing all runway and taxiway edge lighting
-replacing apron lighting and wind cone lighting
-wiring and electrical equipment in Airport lighting vault
-replacing a VASI with PAPI
-install new signage
-removal and placing striping

Project is set to start 7 days after award of contract and set to be completed in 190 Calendar days. Prevailing wage is required and all subcontractors bidding must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5. DBE subs are highly recommended to bid, due to the DBE requirement stated in the project documents.


Public Works
A contractor or subcontractor shall not be qualified to bid on, be listed in a bid proposal, subject to requirements of Section 4104 of the Public Contract Code, or engaged in performance of any contract for public work, as defined, unless currently registered and qualified to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5 of the Labor Code. It is not a violation of this section for an unregistered contractor to submit a bid that is authorized by Section 7029.1 of the Business and Professions Code or by Section 10164 or 20103.5 of the Public Contract Code, provided contractor is registered to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5 at the time the contract is awarded.

Prevailing Wage
Pursuant to Section 1773 of the California Labor Code, the general prevailing rate of wages in the county in which the work is to be done, must be paid to all workers on Public Works projects such as this one. Rates can be obtained through the Department of Industrial Relations website at www.dir.ca.gov.

Bonds
Subcontractor may be required to provide performance and payment bonds securing the performance of the Work and the payment of Sub-subcontractors. Should your firm be required to provide such bonds in the full amount of the base bid, add your bond premium as a percentage to the base bid. Written evidence of bonding capacity may be requested. Failure to provide such evidence will result in rejection of the bid.
