Tutor Perini Corporation, an EEO Employer, is currently soliciting cost proposals from Qualified and Certified M/WBE subcontractors / vendors / service providers, for Contract VN-34 DESIGN/BUILD SERVICES for MAIN CABLE AND SUSPENDER ROPE INSPECTION AND TESTING AT THE VERRAZANO-NARROWS BRIDGE IN THE BOROUGHS OF NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

The Project involves Design-Build services for the Main Cable and Suspender Rope Inspection and Testing (the “Project”). The General Scope of Work consists of:

• Providing access and assistance to the Authority’s to inspect the interior of 12 cable panels
and to obtain the necessary sample wires for shipping to laboratory (testing by others). The Authority will use a separate consultant to perform cable inspection and the Contractor will be required to coordinate and work with that consultant.

• Performing Non-Destructive Testing on 27 suspender ropes, which include the 11 suspender ropes to be replaced.

• Replacing 11 suspender ropes consisting of 4 pairs and 3 individual ropes, and shipping the necessary sample rope sections wires to laboratory (testing by others).

• Retrofitting of the suspender ropes bearing area at 4 locations in order to provide larger space around the suspenders for maintenance, inspection and to avoid entrapment of debris
and wetness.

• Performing work “As Ordered By the Engineer” such as: additional main cable panels wedging , additional main cable wire splicing, additional replacement of cable band bolts, additional removal and reinstallation of main cable shielding, additional main cable panel wedge line, additional non-destructive testing of suspender ropes, removal and reinstallation of lighting fixtures installed during the governor’s initiative on decorative lighting contract
which could interfere with the suspender rope replacement, design and/or installation of a structural health monitoring system, or other work identified by the Authority.
