District of Columbia DBE program

The DDOT, or the District Department of Transportation, provides assistance to minority and women-owned businesses engaged in bidding on transportation and construction related projects through its disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) program. Application may be made to the Metropolitan Washington Unified Certification Program (MWUCP).

Does this local/state program offer reciprocal certifications with other local/state programs? The MWUCP chooses to review all out-of-state applicants.

Does this certification expire? Certified companies are reviewed every three years, and must submit an annual affidavit, but the certification itself does not, all else being equal, expire unless formally removed by a review panel.

Does this program require bidders attempt to make a good-faith effort to meet participation goals? Prime contractors must make a good-faith effort to meet federal DBE participation goals on specified projects.
