Georgia DBE program

The disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) program in the State of Georgia is administered by the Equal Employment Opportunity program, which allows DBEs to be recognized as such when working with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). An orientation for newly certified DBEs is available, and comes highly recommended by the EEO and GDOT, as it contains information on the bidding process and many other topics. DBEs are also listed in a directory split into prime contractors and subcontractors which enables good faith efforts to be made to contact these DBEs for work.

Does this local/state program offer reciprocal certifications with other local/state programs? An out-of-state business that has already been certified as a DBE and is seeking DBE certification from Georgia may submit to GDOT all materials submitted to the certifying authority in its home state.

Does this certification expire? An Affidavit of No Change, available from GDOT's web site, must be submitted on an annual basis in order to maintain one's certification.

Does this program require bidders attempt to make a good-faith effort to meet participation goals? Yes, bidders must make a good-faith effort to meet participation goals on specified contracts.
