Bloomberg signs M/WBE legislation
Published on 02/01/2013
At the beginning of January, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg signed into law Introductory Number 911-A, which eliminates the $1 million cap on contracts targeted at minority and women-owned businesses (M/WBEs).

"This [legislation] will more than triple the number of contracts covered by the city's M/WBE Program," said the mayor. "M/WBEs have won more than $3 billion in City procurement awards and will now be able to compete more effectively for higher-valued contracts. Additionally the bill requires agency representatives to report to a Mayoral designee on their progress toward meeting contract participation goals set forth in the law."
