High-Speed rail hosting April, May SBE certification workshops
Published on 05/03/2013
The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CaHSR) will be hosting four small business certification workshops in April and May for companies that are interested in participating on the statewide high-speed rail project, the initial phase of which is expected to cost $6 billion dollars.
At the events, CaHSR will provide small businesses with hands-on technical assistance which includes on-the-spot certification that can be completed online. Participants will also receive pertinent information on upcoming procurement opportunities around the state that would be of interest to their businesses.
The Authority has established a 30 percent small business participation goal for the high-speed rail project.
"We have been working to engage small businesses and encouraging them to get involved," said Jeff Morales, CaHSR CEO. "Many of our contracts are long-term and will be a big boost economically for small businesses. We want to help small businesses prepare to work on the project."
Work on the project will begin in the Central Valley, extending statewide from there. By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin and, eventually, will extend to Sacramento and San Diego.
