NJ Transit proposes 3yr DBE goal, holds public meeting
Published on 05/15/2013
New Jersey Transit is holding a meeting on May 31st to present its preliminary three-year disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) goals to the public.
At the meeting, NJ Transit will solicit comments from businesses owners that have contracted, subcontracted, or sought contracts with the agency. More specifically, NJ Transit is seeking to learn more about:
- The barriers firms face when trying to do business with NJ Transit;
- Whether firms believe that they have been discriminated against because of their race, ethnicity, or gender by NJ Transit representatives or other stakeholders;
- Whether prime contractors try to bring DBE subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors on board for NJ Transit contracts that do not include DBE participation goals; and
- The difficulties firms may face when trying to access capital, bonding, and insurance.
Attendees will also be able to make general comments and ask NJ Transit officials questions about the proposed goals.
