LA Minority Biz Center receives additional federal funding
Published on 10/07/2013
In mid-September, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that the Los Angeles Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center is receiving $625,000 in additional funding to expand its outreach efforts to Southern California's minority-owned businesses.

quot; Our goal at MBDA has always been to expand the Agency's reach, expertise and resources to serve as many minority-owned businesses as possible through the MBDA Business Center program, quot; said David A. Hinson, MBDA National Director.

The Los Angeles Business Center is operated by the University of Southern California (USC) in partnership with the City of Los Angeles, Mayor's Office of Economic & Business Policy (OEBP). The center provides procurement assistance, business training, financing assistance, and business consulting.

The MBDA, which was founded by the Nixon administration in 1969 to promote the growth and competitiveness of the nation's minority-owned businesses, also funds Business Centers in Fresno, Riverside, and San Jose, though these locations did not receive supplemental investments.
