Construction bond program established for small, minority contractors

Cerritos College, located in Los Angeles County, launched a Bond Construction Outreach Program this month to encourage and help facilitate the participation of local, minority, women, disabled veteran, and small businesses in the college's Measure CC and Measure G construction projects.
"With the Bond Construction Outreach Program, we intend to create growth opportunities for local and minority businesses in the areas of construction, architecture, engineering and professional services," said Cerritos College President/Superintendent Dr. Linda Lacy.
The program defines a local business as one that has an office located in one of the 14 communities the college serves, which includes:
- Artesia
- Bellflower
- Bell Gardens
- Cerritos
- Downey
- Hawaiian Gardens
- La Mirada
- Lakewood
- Long Beach
- Norwalk
- Paramount
- Santa Fe Springs
- South Gate
- Signal Hill
Other businesses that may participate in the program include those certified as:
- Small Business Enterprises (SBE)
- Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE)
- Minority Business Enterprises (MBE)
- Woman Business Enterprises (WBE)
- Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBE)
Seminars introducing the program to interested businesses will be held at the Cerritos College Teleconference Center on Thursday, October 31 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and Friday, November 15 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
