Los Angeles County hosting small business workshop series

Small contractors are invited to participate in E-Contractor Academy, a free series of workshops aimed at preparing them to compete for and perform work on energy efficiency retrofit projects in Los Angeles County and elsewhere in California.
The workshops, sponsored by Citi Community Development (Citibank) and hosted by the County in partnership with the Emerald Cities Collaborative, will begin on February 12. Interested contractors must enroll by February 7.
To graduate from the Academy, contractors must attend seven three-hour seminars that will cover:
- Introduction to the California Public Utility Commission's Southern California Regional Energy Network and Green Building Basics
- How to Bid on Energy Efficiency Projects
- Access to Capital, Bonding, and Insurance
- Safety Program for Energy Efficiency Projects
- Bidding Principles
- Labor Compliance (e.g. certified payroll), Project Labor Agreements (PLA), Community Workforce Agreements (CWA) including local hire agreements, and how to benefit from becoming a Building Trades Signatory Contractor
- LCP Tracker and B2GNow User Training
