Denver International Airport (DIA) has exceeded its minority and women business participation goals for construction contracts funded by the Federal Aviation Administration.
As a recipient of federal funding, DIA is required to implement a disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) program, which aims to give minority and women-owned businesses equal access to construction contracting opportunities with the airport.
In 2013, 18.61 percent of the airports construction contracting dollars ? totaling $5,196,526 - went to DBE certified firms, beating its goal of 17.8 percent.
"Denver International Airport has made it a priority to embrace inclusivity and to provide significant participation by minority- and women-owned businesses in all airport projects and programs," said Kim Day, Denver's Manager of Aviation. "We are proud to have exceeded the federal goals for airport construction projects in 2013."
