Minority and women-owned businesses (M/WBEs) in Western New York, the North Country, and Mid-Hudson regions will have an opportunity to network with other contractors and officials from various New York State agencies at upcoming events hosted by the Empire State Development Corporation's Division of Minority and Women's Business Development.
The M/WBE Opportunities Expos are part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's larger effort to include M/WBEs in state contracting.
"If we're going to rebuild the Empire State, we need to make sure the doors of economic opportunity are open to all," the governor said. "The Opportunities Expo is one of the many ways we?re connecting minority and women-owned businesses to up to $1 billion in contracting opportunities. I encourage businesses to take part in their nearest Expo and learn more about the benefits of doing business with the State of New York."
Expo attendees will be able to workshops and panels about M/WBE certification and business resources, participate in procurement training, and access resources provided by local the Small Business Development Center, Professional & Technical Assistance Center, and Entrepreneurial Assistance Program.
The first Expo will be held in the University of Buffalo's Allen Hall on April 24th, and the second on May 8th in SUNY Plattsburgh's Warren Ballroom, Angell College Center. Another expo will be held in the Mid-Hudson region this summer.
