City of Madison studying minority, women business participation on contracts
Published on 08/13/2014

The City of Madison has commissioned a study to analyze its current efforts to provide a level playing field for minority and women-owned businesses (MBEs and WBEs) competiting for City public works contracts.

In the event that major obstacles still exist to prevent MBEs and WBEs from being competitive in the bidding process, the City will then undertake steps to remove those obstacles.

Throughout the study, the City will provide multiple opportunities for public input, including personal and telephone interviews with area business owners, trade associations and other groups.

In addition to publishing the results of the study for public review in early 2015, the City will also hold several public forums, also in early 2015, to receive citizen input.
