Philadelphia increases minority, women business participation goals after study
Published on 08/13/2014

The City of Philadelphia recently completed its Annual Disparity Study, which analyzes the utilization and competitiveness of minority, women and disabled business enterprises (M/W/DBES) in city contracts and following a detailed analysis, decided to increase its participation goal for M/W/DBES.

The percentage required for the participation goal increases from 25 percent to 30 percent.

The study found that in Fiscal Year 2013, the city had awarded $237 million to M/W/DBEs which represents a 28 percent of the total value of the contracts.

This utilization of M/W/DBEs represents an increase of 17 percent over the previous year, highlighting the success of Philadelphia in providing additional opportunities for M/W/DBEs, which the City hopes to further build upon with its participation goal increase.
