Contractors Development Initiative to help Peoria minority, women business

Peoria County has recently partnered with the Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce and the Minority Business Development Institute to develop and administer the Contractors Development Initiative.

The Initiative will assist existing and emerging minority and women owned contracting firms develop and grow their business. Currently, thirty businesses have received assistance in the form of general practice tools, while a further twenty businesses have received assistance in obtaining bonds.

The plan was developed in response to concern over the fact that only 7 percent of contractors within the area are minority and women owned.
