Ashville looking for MWBE program feedback
Published on 07/21/2017

The City of Ashville is undertaking a study to determine whether minority- and women-owned businesses (MWBEs) are being awarded their fair share of city contracts.

The disparity study, which is being conducted by an outside consultant, is examining city contracting data from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2017 and will incorporate feedback from the public.

The city is inviting stakeholders to learn more about the study and provide comments about their experiences in city contracting at one of two meetings that will be held on July 31st at the TD Bank Building, 200 College St., First Floor Conference Room, Asheville, NC 28801. The first meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and the second from 6 to 8 p.m.

The study's findings will be used by the city officials to develop it's existing MWBE program, which aims to help MWBEs participate in city contracting.
