Los Angeles Metro Expanding Business Opportunities for DVBEs
Published on 12/02/2014

A new program aimed at directing more contracting dollars to disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) in the Los Angeles area was launch by Metro on November 18th.

Under the program, all non-federally funded construction, goods or services over $100,000 Metro contracts will have a three percent DVBE participation goal. Additionally, the agency will use a five-point evaluation scoring preference for certified DVBE firms with principal offices in California. To participate in the program, the DVBE must already be certified through the California Department of General Services (DGS).

\\\"One of the most important things we can do for our veterans is make sure they have employment opportunities when they return home, and Metro\\\'s new DVBE Program will boost veteran hiring in California,\\\" said Eric Garcetti, Mayor of Los Angeles, Metro Board Chair and Navy reservist. \\\"The program is an extension of my commitment to make Los Angeles a pro-veteran, pro-business city.\\\"

Metro is currently working with veterans\\\' organizations and other advocates to identify disabled veteran-owned businesses qualified for the program.
