The Office of Contract Compliance for the City of Buffalo is in the process of implementing a new compliance tracking software system to more effectively tracking whether prime contractors on city projects are meeting goals for hiring minority- and woman-owned businesses (M/WBEs).
The city currently has current contracting participation goal of 25 percent for MBEs and 5 percent for WBEs.
A large part of the system's value expected value to the city is in how it directs responsibilty back to the prime contractors. The system will require such contractors to upload compliance data to an online platform to proceed with contracting, so that the city's ability to evaluate who is in compliance will become much more direct and immediate.
The proposed timeline for implementation of the software at this time is unknown.
