DVBE contracting with Cal Water increases in 2017
Published on 05/03/2018

Cal Water is marking National Military Appreciation Month by reaffirming its commitment to bringing Disabled Veteran-owned Businesses (DVBEs) into its procurement processes through its supplier diversity program. DVBEs looking for procurement opportunities are thus encouraged to look into Cal Water's slate of available contracts, especially given that Cal Water procured $6.6 million worth of goods and services from DVBEs in 2017, more than tripling its total from 2016.

"Disabled veteran-owned businesses have been a reliable and valuable partner for us, as they have brought values such as leadership, self-direction, motivation, and a strong work ethic to the table with their operations," Cal Water President and CEO Martin A. Kropelnicki said. "This enables us to operate more efficiently, which in turn benefits our customers and communities and helps us continue fulfilling our commitment to provide quality, service, and value."

In 2017, Cal Water awarded 2.75 percent of all discretionary spending to DVBEs, exceeding the California Public Utilities Commission goal of 1.5 percent.
