The Workforce Solutions division of Gateway Community & Technical College in Kentucky has partnered with the University of Kentucky and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to create a new Transportation Construction certificate program. The program is free to access and is targeted towards women, minorities, and historically disadvantaged populations.
The program itself is 96 hours, and aims to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary in successfully doing business in the transportation construction field. The program will cover course topics such as (but not limited to) asphalt paving techniques, commercial drivers license information, and the disadvantaged business enterprise certification. Instructors will be drawn from all three of the partner organizations for the program.
All classes will be held at Gateway’s Transportation Technology Center located at 1051 Dudley Road, Fort Wright, KY 41017. For more information, prospective students are encouraged to contact Paula Barnes at 859-442-1692 or to go to gateway.kctcs.edu.
