The New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS) has updated their online certification portal, SBS Connect, in order to provide minority- and woman-owned businesses (MWBEs) with a more accessible pathway to certification.
Improvements made to the system include offering built-in guidance to applicants during the online application process, the capacity to accept secure uploads of scanned documents required in the application process, and the maintenance of data and applications within a persistent user account that can be updated as needed. The new SBS Connect website forms part of SBS's plans to achieve a completely paperless application process.
