New York City Comptroller to host twice-weekly MWBE webinars
Published on 04/17/2020

New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer has announced that the city will host twice-weekly webinars for minority- and woman-owned businesses (MWBEs) through Zoom during the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinars will cover a variety of topics previously covered by the array of in-person events hosted by the city for MWBEs, including accessing capital and seeking government procurement work.

The webinar series exists in continuity with the comptroller's MWBE University series, an initiative that predates the pandemic, under which MWBEs were provided with a workshop series with the aim of increasing MWBE utilization in city procurement.

The webinars will be held every Tuesday and Thursday, starting Thursday, April 16, and will run through Thursday, May 14.

"During this difficult time, we want to make it as simple as possible for M/WBEs and small business owners to navigate available resources and access business opportunities," said Comptroller Stringer. "Our multilingual webinar series ensures that businesses have easy access to a one-stop-shop for the most up-to-date and critical information. M/WBEs and local businesses are essential to our economy and identity as a city, and we will do everything in our power to help our small business community rebuild stronger than ever before."

Interpretation services in American Sign Language, Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Urdu will be made available during the webinars.
