New York State, Erie County agreement speeds up MWBE certification

A new agreement between the County of Erie and City of Buffalo Joint Certification Committee (JCC) and Empire State Development will allow "fast track" minority- and women-owned business (MBE/WBE) certification with the state if the firm is already certified with the City of Buffalo and Erie County.

At the present time, Erie County has 119 businesses certified as MBEs and 152 as WBEs.

"More local MWBE businesses will now have increased access to State contracts through the fast track certification process. Working in tandem with ESD brings more information, more resources, and the ability to reach a larger potential audience for our minority- and women-owned businesses," said Jesse Burnette, Chair of the County of Erie and City of Buffalo Joint Certification Committee.
