The public will have an opportunity to voice their opinion on the California Department of General Services' (DGS) proposed changes to the state's Small Business (SB) certification program on March 5th.
According to the DGS Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, "SB regulations have not received an extensive revision for several years" and are "outdated and contain obsolete information." The revisions, claims the DGS, would allow the department effectively enforce and administer the SB certification program. It communicates and clarifies, to all stakeholders, current requirements as follows.
The hearing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the DGS Auditorium, 707 Third Street, 1st Floor, West Sacramento, California, 95605. For more information about the proposed amendments, visit http://www.dgs.ca.gov/pd/Programs/OSDS/NoticeofRulemaking.aspx.
In Fiscal Year 2013/14, state entities participating in the SB program awarded a total of $8.7 billion contracting dollars, with over $2.2 billion to SB.
