The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that it exceeded its disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) participation goal for the 2020-2021 fiscal year ending on September 30, 2021. The goal for that period was 15 percent, and DOTD attained a 15.42 DBE participation rate for that period.
The achievement represents the first time in six years that DOTD has met or exceeded its DBE participation goal. In a press release, DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson credited the success this year to the work of the Compliance Programs Section, which ensured contractors were meeting their goals on individual highway projects.
"We are committed to working with small and diverse businesses throughout the state and want to make sure that each firm is given the opportunity to work on state projects in every capacity," Wilson said in a press release.
