The Board of Supervisors for Santa Clara County has approved a new disparity study that will begin activities in February of 2022. The study will examine the experiences of small and diverse businesses in the area and their experiences in working, or attempting to work, for the County, particularly with an eye to whether or not such businesses are underutilized relative to their availability.
The disparity study is set to include public meetings (with specifics coming later) where stakeholders can share their experiences, which will be incorporated into the study. The County's Office of Equity, Diversity and Belonging will also be involved in the process in order to maximize their investment and understanding in the process.
Future details about disparity study meetings and timelines have yet to be finalized, but inquiries on the study can be made to disparitystudy@ceo.sccgov.org.
"We recognize that small businesses face more challenges, and this data will show us exactly where and how we can better partner with these vendors," said Gene Clark, Chief Procurement Officer for Santa Clara County, in a statement.
