Georgia bill streamlining certification for MWVBEs signed into law

House Bill 128 for the State of Georgia has been signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp. The bill streamlines the certification process for minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses (MWVBEs).

The bill amends current law, under which DAS oversaw minority business certification particularly, to create a general class of "classified subcontractors," referring for the definition of this term to law established for Department of Administrative Services (DAS) certifications and expanding it to include women-owned and veteran-owned businesses, in order to clear up redundancy in the law. The bill also gives DAS the authority to accept certifications from other certifying entities.
