MWSBEs awarded $436 million in Port Authority contracts
Published on 05/28/2015

In 2014, the Port Authority awarded $436 million in contracts, equal to 18.3 percent of the Authority's spending, to companies categorized as minority, women, or small business enterprises (MWSBEs). This participation level is the Authority's highest in the past three years.

"The Port Authority is dedicated to ensuring the effectiveness of its Minority, Women-owned and Small Business Enterprise Program," said Port Authority Chairman John Degnan. "The results from 2014 reflect the agency’s commitment to provide contracting opportunities to a broad spectrum of regional MWSBE firms."

MWSBE participation on the World Trade Center and the Goethals Bridge Modernization Program, and the George Washington Bridge Bus Station redevelopment project contributed significantly to the uptick in MWSBE spending, with those projects accounting for $114.5 million of the contract awards.
