Nassau Community College, a public community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system, is opening its Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Center for Excellence in Entrepreneurship this spring. The center will provide assistance to MWBEs as well as to service-disabled veteran-owned businesses (SDVOBs).
The MWBE center is being launched in collaboration with the College's Office of Equity, Inclusion and Affirmative Action; the Center for Workforce Development; and the Office of Student Professional Development and Employer Services. Services offered by the MWBE Center will include one-on-one instruction, workshops and training seminars, financial assessments, and other forms of continuing education and mentoring to support MWBEs and SDVOBs in growing more competitive in bidding on government and other opportunities.
"The primary goal of the Center is to help small businesses in our community become MWBE/SDVOB certified and to assist each business with navigating the procurement process," said Dr. Maria P. Conzatti, chief administrative officer of NCC, in a statement.
