BuildNOLA aims to help small, disadvantaged businesses compete for city contracts
Published on 10/05/2015

Last week, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced the roll out of BuildNOLA, a program designed to prepare local small and disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs) for competing on city contracts.

The free program provides DBEs with contract-specific technical assistance related to project estimating, the development of site safety plans and contract documents, and the bidding process.

"The success of our small businesses is more important to the fabric of our city now than ever before, which is why we launched our Economic Opportunity Strategy last year," said Mayor Mitch Landrieu. "BuildNOLA takes the Economic Opportunity Strategy to the next level, preparing the most historically disadvantaged businesses for contract and growth opportunities. Too many of our residents are underemployed or unemployed, particularly young African American men, and we must do more to ensure every resident has the opportunity to get a good-paying job for themselves and their family."

All training services are provided at Delgado Community College's Small Business Center.
