New rules to help Missouri minority, women businesses
Published on 04/21/2016

The Missouri Office of Administration is taking steps to promote the inclusion of minority and women-owned businesses (M/WBEs) in state contracting.

Earlier in April, the office proposed rules that will simplify the state's M/WBE certification process for applicants, improve the information made available about M/WBEs in the state's searchable directory, and set the state's overall M/WBE goal at 10 percent.

"As Missourians, we share the values of inclusivity, tolerance and equal opportunity for all," Governor Jay Nixon said. "Our efforts to increase participation by minority and women-owned businesses and encourage new small businesses to compete for state contracts will promote greater diversity in government contracting and job creation in communities across the state."

The pubic will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed rules.
