The City of Cincinnati has awarded more than $9.1 million in city contracts to minority- and women-owned businesses (M/WBEs) since its roll-out of an M/WBE program at the beginning of the year.
"I am thrilled that our inclusion of African-American and female contractors is improving," said Mayor John Cranley. "We will be pushing for even more progress to come."
Currently 174 M/WBEs are certified by the city and are eligible to have their participation on city contracts counted toward the M/WBE contracting figures.
The city has used M/WBE participation goals on individual contracts and business training classes to promote M/WBE inclusion.
