Kentucky small businesses owned by service-disabled veterans (SDVOSBs) can now get a leg up in doing business with the state through a newly launched program.
The program, which resembles the state's Minority and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) program, certifies a firm as a SDVOSB and helps guide state contracts and other resources to certified businesses.
"A key objective of this administration is to promote a robust economic climate in Kentucky. This will help businesses to create an abundance of quality job opportunities," said Gov. Bevin. "As a military veteran, small business owner and Governor, I am honored to support other veterans in their entrepreneurial endeavors, especially through this newly established Certification Program."
Disabled veteran-owned businesses already certified as SDVOSBs by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs are eligible for a streamlined certification process via the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, but those not yet certified are encouraged to apply.
