The Austin Independent School District (AISD) will be launching a new Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) program in mid-November, and after a School Board meeting last week the contours of the program are now coming into focus.
At the meeting, the District announced that it will establish annual HUB participation goals for construction and construction-related professional contracts. The overall goal for construction contracts is 21.0% and 28.5% for professional contracts.
In addition to setting annual goals, AISD will set HUB participation goals on individual contracts and require that prime contractors make a good faith effort to meet these goals. Contract-specific goals will vary based on the availablity of HUBs to perform the types of work required on the project.
