As required of all Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) funding recipients, the Arizona Department is Transportation (ADOT) is beginning the triennial process of updating its disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) goal.
The department has hired an outside firm to study DBE participation levels on publicly-funded contracts in the state and help ADOT craft a new DBE participation goal.
Currently, ADOT aims to spend 8.9 percent of all federally-funded highway projects with DBEs. The department has exceed this goal for two years in a row.
As part of the goal setting process, ADOT will hold public meetings and invite written input from the public in June, before submitting its final goal for the FHWA's approval.
