Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin has signed into law House Bill 161, which will help promote service-disabled veteran-owned business (SDVOB) participation on contracts awarded by executive branch agencies.
Under the measure, these agencies will be required to solicit at least one quote from a certified SDVOB for contracts valued between $1,000 and $20,000. Moreover, the agencies are required to document their efforts to notify of SDVOBs of eligible contracting opportunities.
The new law comes nearly a year after the State of Kentucky launched its service-disabled veteran business program. Through the initiative, the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet certifies companies service-disabled status.
