LA County rolls out new local, disabled-veteran business program
Published on 05/04/2017

The County of Los Angeles is shooting to award 25 percent of county contracts to local small businesses and 3 percent to disabled veteran-owned businesses over the next four years through it's new Contracting Connections program.

Once certified as a local small business or disabled veteran-owned business, firms will receive a 15 percent bid preference on eligible county contracts. At present, county contracts available to small businesses total $1 billion.

"The Board of Supervisors has shown a serious commitment to helping small businesses thrive and grow in the County," said the County's Department of Consumer and Business Affairs Director Brian J. Stiger. "The L.A. County Contracting Connections program will assist and guide small businesses competing for County contracts."

Additionally, each County department has a small business advocates ready to help businesses become certified and navigate the bidding process.
