High-Speed Rail Authority sets 10 percent DBE goal

In early August, the California High-Speed Rail Authority's Board of Directors voted to set a 10 percent disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) goal for federal rail contracts and construction projects.
The Board has also established an overall 30 percent small business goal, which includes a 3 percent Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise goal.
The Authority is required to set DBE and small business enterprise (S/DBE) goals by the Federal Railroad Administration in order to increase S/DBE participation in Authority contracting.
"This action by the Board ensures that small, disadvantaged and disabled veterans' businesses will be the backbone of the high-speed rail project," said Jeff Morales, Chief Executive Officer of the High-Speed Rail Authority. "In doing so, we can be sure that the nation's largest infrastructure project will benefit from the creativity, diversity and commitment of the State's small business community."
