Project Description: Project consists of replacing an existing 15,000 sf three-span bridge spanning over water with a two-span bridge in the same location. The existing bridge has two abutments, and two piers founded on spread footings and is comprised of a concrete-encased steel beam supported superstructure. The new bridge will have two abutments founded on concrete-filled steel pipe piles, driven to rock, and the one pier will be founded on drilled shafts with rock sockets. The new bridge superstructure is comprised of a steel plate girder supported 9" concrete deck. The bridge will be demolished/replaced in two phases. Temporary sheet pile cofferdams will be required to install/demo the abutments. A new 105’ long SP&L retaining wall will be installed at the end of one of the wing walls. There is miscellaneous drainage work, electric work, and site restoration associated with the construction that will be installed.
