Project Details

Mowing of sensitive habitat areas may be requested outside of the designated mowing cycles and will only be performed at the direction of the HCFCD representative.
B. Establish a route that will allow cutting of 100 percent of the designated area. Mowing of any site will not be considered complete for payment until the entire area has been uniformly cut, including all handwork. It is strongly recommended that all handwork be completed within three (3) days of mowing. Recut missed stands of vegetation or areas not uniformly cut at no additional cost.
C. Cut grass to a minimum height of eight (8) inches and not greater than twelve (12) inches.
D. Cutting of heavy brush with stems up to three (3) inches in diameter may be required in areas of dense vegetation.
E. To avoid damage caused by mowers, leave a six (6) inch vegetated buffer around trees, fences and other permanent structures. Use hand trimmers or hand-pull all undesirable vegetation as directed by the HCFCDrepresentative.
F. Use mowing equipment that has been cleaned of all vegetation previously cut, is in good operating condition and maintained to provide a clean cut of vegetation.
G. Equip mower decks with safety chains to prevent damage to property from flying debris.
H. Do not store equipment within thirty (30) feet of the streets during non-working hours. Store materials and/or equipment on-site in an orderly manner.
I. Do not mow when soil conditions cannot support the weight of the equipment and mowing causes rutting of the soil or slope instability.
3.2 NON- MECHANICAL VEGETATION REMOVAL
A. Remove vegetation including the roots in designated area by non-mechanical means to include, but not limited to, hand pulling and digging

Over application or misapplication of herbicides resulting in damage to desirable vegetation will result in liquidated damages of $5,000 per acre and/or $300 per tree damaged.

Damage to desirable trees due to operator's negligence in mowing sites planted with trees will be assessed $300.00 per tree in liquidated
damages.

Harris County will require a wage floor on contractors awarded by the County, requiring contractors to pay workers a minimum wage that is no less than $21.65 per hour.
