Hamilton County conducting disparity study
Published on 09/03/2021

Hamilton County is currently conducting a disparity study on its public procurement procedures. Specifically, the study will examine contract awards from January 1st, 2016, through June 30, 2021, to determine if there is a statistically significant disparity in utilization of small, minority-, and women-owned businesses (SMWBEs) in county contracting relative to their availability in the area.

The process of conducting the survey is expected to include gathering testimony from business owners and other stakeholders at public meetings as well as conducting telephone surveys and interviews, in addition to analysis of the raw contracting data from the County. Should the study make findings of disparities in SMWBE contracting, it will also make recommendations on remedying those disparities. The study is currently expected to be completed by the end of June of 2022.

Those who are interested in making inquiries about the study or delivering comments on it may contact Robert Bell, Director of Economic Inclusion and Equity for Hamilton County at (513) 946-4428 or at Robert.Bell@hamilton-co.org. Stephanie Ayers, Associate at BBC Research & Consulting, may also be contacted for the same reasons, at (303) 321-2547, ext. 249, or at sayers@bbcresearch.com.
